How would you feel if you were replaced by a cheap clone and be considered less relevant in society? You wouldn’t? Traditional fairy tales are stories told to children for entertainment purposes, usually about magical beings, queens, kings, dragons and magical settings. Currently there has been an argument relating either traditional fairy tales are more relevant than its modern interpretations or vice versa. But without a doubt traditional fairy tales are more relevant than its modern interpretations in this day and age, due to traditional fairy tales providing very important and much needed morals/life lessons, they also tend to end in a happily ever after. While Traditional fairy tales have all the common elements of a “rescue me story” while modern interpretations do not.

First and foremost, I believe that traditional fairy tales are extremely more relevant than all its modern interpretations, as traditional fairy tales provide important morals/life lessons “behind the scenes”. The original three little pigs is a great example of this. The three little pigs tells the audience that hard work always pays off. The three little pigs shows us this as the third little pig, who spent more time making his house, was the only pig to not have his house blown away by the wolf and the only pig to survive. While Roald Dahl’s three little pigs defeats this moral as the third little pig ends up being killed by little red riding hood. Another moral/life lesson found in the three little pigs, tells us to work hard now and reap rewards later. This again can be seen while the third pig knew that extra effort, by making his house out of brick would evidently lead to great awards in the future. A third example in the three little pigs, tells us to think smart. This can also be seen while the third little pig is outsmarting the wolf and always being one step ahead of the big bad wolf.

To continue, I firmly believe that traditional fairy tales are far more relevant than its modern interpretations, as they give hope to the children that everything will go find and they will live happily ever after just like the fairy tales. A great example of this is little red riding hood, as the traditional fairy tale ends with the wolf being killed by the hunter ant the grandmother and red riding hood are saved. A second great example can be the traditional Snow White, as Snow White spits out the poisonous apple and falls in love with the price henceforth marring him. Another great example of this is Cinderella, because she ends up marring the prince and soon live happily ever after.

Thirdly, I strongly believe that traditional fairy tales are without a doubt more relevant than its modern interpretations as traditional fairy tales complete all the common elements of a “rescue me story” while not all modern interpretations contain every single element needed. A well know traditional fairy tale called sleeping beauty is a great example of this. The 8 common elements of a recue me story are, one a hero, two a heroine/victim (damsel in destress), three a villain, four a sidekick (most of the times), five magical creatures, six a talisman, seven a quest and 8, a magical setting. Little red riding hood has all 8 of the elements, the hero is the huntsman, the heroine/victim is little red riding hood and the grandma. The villain and the magical creature is the big bad wolf as he can talk and attempts to eat little red riding hood and the grandmother, the talisman is the red hood that little red riding hood wears. The quest is when little red riding hood goes off to give he grandma a cake and a bottle of wine and the magical setting is the village far far away. Two other examples are sleeping beauty and Rapunzel as they also have the 8 common rescue me elements due to them having a damsel in destress, a hero, villain ect.

To conclude, I insist that, without a doubt traditional fairy tales are far more relevant than its modern interpretations due to most traditional fairy tales providing many important life lessons and much needed morals. Traditional fairy tales also provide the young audience with happiness and hope for the future that everything will end well and they will live happily ever after. Traditional fairy tales also contain all eight elements of a “rescue me” story, while most of its modern interpretations do not have all eight elements.
