Early Life/Childhood

John’s birthday is May 29,1917.Born in Brookline,Massachusetts John F Kennedy also known as Jack was the second child of 9,and his parents Joseph and Rose Kennedy were two of Boston's most prominent Irish Catholic Political families.Jack lived a privileged youth,he went to private schools,and spent summers in Hyannis Port on Cape Cod.Jack joined the US Navy in 1941 then 2 years later he went to the pacific ocean.His position was commander of Patrol-Torpedo boat.August 1943 they were struck by a Japanese destroyer.Kennedy helped marooned crew to safety,and was awarded Navy and Marine Corps for heroism.His older brother didn't make it but he told Jack to fill his destiny for him to become the first Catholic president.This would lead him to become the first Catholic president.

Beginning of Career

Jack would then leave his plans to become a journalist and head into politics.He went to Boston and ran for Congress in 1946.He was a conservative Democrat.He entered the 80th Congress on 1947 at the age of 29.This brought attention and some criticism from older members of the Washington establishment.This was due to his young and relaxed informal style.John won reelection in the House of Representatives in 1948 to 1950 and successfully ran for senate in 1952.On september 12 1953 John married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier.John announced his candidacy in 1956.In the november of 1956 he won on a narrow margin of less than 120,000 out of 70 million votes.This would make him the youngest president,and the first Catholic president.

Significant accomplishments

John was thrown a curveball when he clashed with Khrushchev the soviet union leader in 1962 during the Cuban missile crisis.They were constructing a number of nuclear missile sites in Cuba that could pose a threat to the United States.So John announced a Naval blockade.The standoff lasted two weeks.Khrushchev agreed to dismantle the missile sites.Only if the US promised to not invade the island with the missile sites.The US also had to remove missile sites near the Soviet Union like Turkey and others.July 1963 Kennedy won the greatest affair victory he has seen ever.He convinced Khrushchev to join him and the Britain Prime Minister to sign a nuclear test ban treaty.

Impact on the world

John’s impact on the U.S was huge.He made nuclear peace with Britain,and with the Soviet Union.He was a very popular president at home and abroad.He stopped nuclear testing that the Soviet Union was doing on cuban lands that could of posed a threat to the U.S in the future.Kennedy's impact at home brought attention to his family.He and his family got many comparisons of King Arthur's court at Camelot.Kennedy also announced a civil rights bill and put into effect at the March of Washington.There are numerous infidelities of him being personally associated with members of organized crime.This would not only affect him and his family,but the U.S as well.On november 22,1963 at 12:30 shots were fired at him.He was hit in the head and neck.Shortly after he arrived the ER he was pronounced dead.

Lessons Learned

Some of John personality traits that made him great was when he was president he was the youngest one ever and first Catholic president ever so that brought good religious and young attention.These apply to me because i'm young and understand young people.I also am very religious.That's why I look up to him he was reasonable,and pretty cool.I choose him because he seemed cool and I feel he would have been a great president.
