The contents of both MPA and MBA is quite similar but also there are few subjects in MBA which are not related to accounting. The structure is well organized in both courses for instance some advanced subjects are only allowed to study after you pass the basics, the structure is organized in such a manner which allows students to track their own performance.

Despite the fact of having wide scope in MBA, MPA has been providing relevant contents which helps student to explore accounting in an intense way comparatively to MBA. Albeit both courses have strong contents, it depends upon a student’s job target to choose between these two courses. They can only utilize the contents properly until they know what they are aiming for. However, contents and their structure play an essential part in a student’s academic background.

MPA is a course only focused on accounting whereas MBA provides knowledge on business as well as accounting, despite of having two purpose of MBA, it allocates 12 subjects to every student to overcome within two years of time whereas, having only one purpose, MPA allocates 16 subjects to every students to complete within the same period of time as it was for MBA. We also can’t deny the fact that MBA is more popular in contrast to MPA. The reason could be the contents, as in MBA provides subjects related to management, marketing, strategy and finance which is much wider than MPA and these subjects helps students to equip those knowledges in many aspects of their professional career.

There are different sources that influence students to study MBA and can be explained that this course provides diversity of knowledge for the career choice. Since it’s a degree based on management which provides knowledge in a broad way in a different professional matter and provides a flexibility to choose between different career such as organizations, business or management.

There also many students who choose accounting as their major subjects because accounting itself is a relevant part of a business or any organization. There are a lot of accounting standards in Australia which gives in depth knowledge about accounting. The demand for the accountant were skyrocketed at the beginning of this century by establishing the globalized accounting standards and changes in administrative because of the retirement and displacement of the accountants.

The decision to choose different subjects by international students in Australia is highly influenced by the demand of the job in the market, the wages and the main thing is migration policy by the government. They realize the theoretical knowledge they acquired from the institution is not relevant enough for performing the real work task in any firm. The contents include nine out of ten part is theory but the requirement for even beginning position in any accounting firm is far more technical skills in software rather than the understanding the theories. Getting a first accounting job without an experience is like chicken and egg situation (Chapman, 2017). It’s hard to tell which comes first, that is the reason why accounting graduates are not getting accounting job despite of having stable accountants demand.

Therefore, technical skills should also be one of the subjects or in every subject, there should be practical knowledge. MYOB assessment is included in this course but the outcome from this learning is quite low because student needs to copy the procedure performend in the related book and submit the overall file to the lecturer at the end of the semester which means students are not getting proper technical skills training which more vital to acquire an accounting job rather than just understanding the theory part.
